We arrived at 10:15 at the campsite so less than 4 hours :) I think the A20 at that time may have been ok but took no chances! We are in now in Folkston enjoying a nice curry lunch well worth getting up at 5am :)

Just got back :(
France side of eurotunnel working smoothly and first time in years haven't queued.
However if approaching tunnel from the UK the traffic rejoining the motorway is stationary all the way back to joining point

Just been to Dover and the A2 approach to Dover port is queuing down the hill from the Duke of York roundabout (A258 junction). The approach to the port from Folkestone is queuing and being controlled by the police but it was all moving albeit very slowly.

Thank you to all of the contributors on this thread, I hope that for the next few days it can be kept 'live' and updated. It is for me the most trustworthy report of what is actually going on during the many ongoing problems and during this busy period.

Used the tunnel for years but doing the Hull-Zeebrugge in September. Not risking migrant/strikes spoiling my holiday.

I agree it must be a nightmare for the 400 who have been made redundant from dfds. Livelihood and family support gone in one fell swoop. Absolute nightmare.:(

You appear better informed than me as far as illegal acts. I have no more idea who fired this flare than anyone else. My comment was just a memory jogger with respect of who the real losers were in this situation. We only hear about those having to spend an hour or two longer in their motorhomes.

The workers had invested their own money into the Cooperative that ran those ship. The Monopoly commission is the organisation that stopped it so our government bankrupts French workers. then complains if they react. The PandO DFDS cartel carries on. This kind of thing happens to any smaller company that tries to break in to the market here.

I think the entire current ferry redundancy issues are littered with illegal acts ... shame as it detracts from the plight of the individuals .

In an interview on Radio 4 Today program a spokesman for DFDS stated that they had LEASED the vessels from The Channel Tunnel Company. Now the reason that was given by the UK Competitions Authority was that because The Channel Tunnel Company was the owner the vessels, The Channel Tunnel Company had to big a hold on the crossing.

The situation has not changed DFDS are leasing the vessels, as MyFerryLink did, from The Channel Tunnel Company, so all it has done is REDUCE competition by forcing one operator off the route from midnight on 12th July by banning MyFerryLink from berthing at Dover from that date..

It was also reported that The Channel Tunnel Company were trying to force the French authorities for put the MyFerryLink cooperative into administration.

DFDS are not committing themselves to employing 275 of the 600 MyFeryLink Staff.

While I am not without sympathy for the employees, I think it should be pointed out that the forced closure of Myferry has been going on for well over a year, so it wouldnt have come as a surprise to anyone other than those who think that they can outshout democracy my militant actions ------- such as they re trying to do now.
