Ducato 3ltr 160 ... Approx 24-26 mpg on average... Tend to favour motorways though (and we tow).

I have my 2006 Autotrail Dakota with the 2.8 JTD:D:D

I like to monitor my MPG, why not, it helps me understand the best mpg/mph combination for my journeys and the characteristics of the van :)

Never worried about having to fill up, I've paid a small fortune for the joy of owning my motorhome and I love it, so won't worry about fill ups. I also use the higher performance diesel cos I can ::bigsmile:

I downloaded an App for my iPhone called MPG CALC and simply throw in the details per fill and it does it for me, simples (y)

It can also monitor a number of vehicles at the same time and was free

Best is actually 34.91, while the worst is 22.12. Average is 25.18 and quite acceptable to me:LOL:

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........
We have a September 2011 plate Benimar - Ford transit 2.2 and average 25-30mph, with a scooter on the back. We sit at 90kph, however in small towns and villages drops to 18-25mph. Pleased enough with that.

Our fourth glorious year!
I think this is where a lower profile makes a big difference. We regularly get low 30's whilst on cruise control at the 58 mark. Also having the slightly bigger 2.5ltr engine helps pull things along.I know a lot of people say why stress about fuel when you have so much invested in the van and to an extent I agree. However if you are doing 4-5000 miles on a trip abroad 10mpg does make a big difference!

We have just returned from Scandanavia in our 2.3 Fiat Panel van conversion. Over 7000 miles the best we did was 43.5 mpg and the worst was 34 mpg. I set the cruise control whenever possible, to 55mph and just sit back and relax (45mph on empty A roads).

Generally I expect to do 38 to 40 mpg. I keep a detailed account of all fuel used so these are actual figures and not 'optimistic trip computer figures'.

Having done 17000 miles in the last year the fuel consumption does indeed make a worthwhile difference.

I'm happy :)

I have the Fiat 2.3 (2011) and at 2000 R.P.M (I cruise at this speed) I get between 30-33 mpg. This equates to about 50 M.P.H. but is the most efficient speed for my 3.5 T. Motorhome. Recently when travelling from Slovenia to Croatia i was getting 33.5 M.P.G. It must have been down hill LOL.

I guess its down to personal taste etc.

I wouldn't trade a few extra mpg for a low profile. I find the overcab sleeper is an essential part of my motorhome lifestyle. The extra internal storage is excellent, plus obviously the "spare" bed for visitors, plus the sofas convert, so sleeps 6 in full comfort.

I did consider the low profile but dismissed it. I'm more than happy with the mpg and the storage combination.

Horses for courses springs to mind :)

Happy motoring :)

New 2014 Tribute built by Autotrail on 2.2 Transit Fwd. We always average 28/29mpg at 60mph. I'm pleased with that for 3.5 tonne vehicle.
We find the use of cruise control and right foot makes the most difference. (y)

When this thread started, I was on holiday, so I didn't spot it. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it! :D
Our average MPG is 23, for something that weighs 4 tonnes and is as aerodynamic as a parachute, I am happy. I also have a Vauxhall Astra VXR, that does 25 MPG, so one goes REALLY fast, the other I can sleep in! :D

I have a 3.8 ton hymer with a 2.7 5 cylinder automatic Merc with 157 hp and I don't really care about fuel consumption as I have the engine which I like, the added bonus is that living in Spain the fuel is cheaper , filled up the other day 0.99 euros a litre,.

My wife and I crouch low in the front seats to reduce wind resistance.
We saw Chris Hoy doing it on the telly.

We started at 25mpg in our 3.7 (uprated) Hobby 650.
We now get 27+.
I put the extra down to learning how to drive and get the best out of 'The Beast' as well as getting rid of the 'Little Use Syndrome' 17000 miles in 6 yrs before us.

My 2015 fiat 2.3 130 bhp was shocking compared to my 2008 Peugeot 2.2 130. I was getting 32mpg on the pug although it was remapped. The Fiat I struggled to get 24 mpg standard. I remapped it before we took it to Italy in August and got 29 mpg and we went over the mountains.

I noticed on my recent trip that the MPG increased significantly as I progressed and relaxed more...

26/27mpg whe I left UK, up to 33 bibbling around the South of France, and over 30 on the "motorway dash" back to Calais; 25 year old common rail diesel (note to "remappers", the extra 2obhp and several mpg will soon be swallowed by the cost of a new engine...)
