The app I use is "Say Hi". It is spoken and displays the translation. Not so good if you don't know the language at all, but fine for most applications.

You shouldn't worry that much ... I still look in the dictionary what is feminine or masculine when it is new to me!! Even a native is not a dictionary you know!! You can't be specialised in all the possible subjects , and so I don't know the gender of quite a few words indeed!!When we first moved over here my French was terrible, ok it's still not great but I manage to be understood. I never knew if item were m or f so didn't know where to ask for un or une, the solution was to ask for deux!
No wonder I put on so much weight.
