See post three. A tank is not a cylinderWhy do Broken Link Removed say:

Are you sure it doesn't have a valve on the tank? On mine it is under the aluminium cover on the side. If you go on the chunnel you are likely to be asked to turn it off at the tank.My 55 litre gas tank has no external shut off valve, do I need to shut off the gas

Nope ... I have gaslow cylinders ...Think you will find gaslows are classed as tanks.

Gaslow cylinder doesn't have a snorkel to prevent liquid gas reaching the outlet. A tank doesI too have the cylinders but I still believe they are classified "tanks"

... but the French do what they like regardless ....Found it. I appreciate the thread is about fixed tanks.
Gaslow disagrees but the French authority class R67 cylinders as tanks.
Just to clarify.
Design is still different to a Stako and why Gaslow say to shut the valveok.. thanks for honesty , I will.
R67 is a French standard for LPG tanks.. EN1949:2011+A1..
R67 Galsow bottles comply with that standard

You might wish to take a look at the filler the French use. It's an elegant and lightweight device that doesn't trap as much LPG between nozzle & filler valves. Leading to ease of use & a very small 'pfffst' upon removal. But we're British, we know better, so we designed our own. I have in mind a petite female attempting to use ours - but I don't suppose that there are many examples of that.Did mine for the first time ever today. First I couldn't get the nozzle off the pump. Then it was so SLOW filling up. Then I struggled to unhook it! But hey, it's done.

Although neither Gasit or Gaslow, we have the same set up, and never close the tank valve, other than prior to boarding our ferry...................even though we are never asked to, nor checked if we actually have.We have a Gasit underslung tank, there is a valve on the tank ( under a remove able cover next to a gauge) and a yellow tap on the outlet hose.
I never shut off anything when I fill up ( nothing about this in the instructions) but shut off the yellow valve before boarding the Chunnel. No one has ever checked this tap because it means looking under the van!
