10,000 miles and we average 25.4 MPG - to be honest, I would not expect anything more. You might get 30 but would need to keep the top speed down a lot; we cruise at 60mph where legally permittedHi,
Just averaged 26 mpg in our new Chausson 718 on the Fiat chassis with the 150 Multijet engine. Only did around 120 miles on mainly A roads and motorway. I had expected nearer to 30 based on what I've read so far. Am I being a bit optimistic? Thanks

Yep we get around the same with ours, same sort of speed as well.10,000 miles and we average 25.4 MPG - to be honest, I would not expect anything more. You might get 30 but would need to keep the top speed down a lot; we cruise at 60mph where legally permitted

Exactly our philosophy - the layout is good, the van comfortable so nothing else really mattered. We monitor the consumption out of habit more than anything else but would not let the MPG dictate anything to us. Life is too shortIt will improve once you have done 10 - 15000 miles, fiat consider 15000 to be run in. Type of gearbox won't make much odds as the auto is a robotised manual if anything the auto is slightly better.
We average 26-27 have had 30 but depends on the terrain.
Doesn't really matter when you have spent over 50k on a new van what does a few quid extra in fuel matter.

Only another 14700 miles to go.Thanks - you're absolutely right about the cost vs the purchase. It was more out of curiosity than concern. Only done 300 miles so far so a way to go before it gets more fuel efficient!

Are you sure your entries in the app are correct? I think there must be something wrong as there's no way on earth you could have got 42 mpg out of an A-class, never mind a slim-line panel van conversion like we have, unless you are going downhill most of the time!I tend to sit at the speed limits especially on the motorway so average 70 mph most of the time. I use BP Ultimate or Shell Nitro as the additives help maintain the fuel pump and injector spray pattern. Below is a screen shot from a fuelly app I use on the iphone and the best mpg I got was 42.38 mpg when averaging 40 mph the whole time (Deliberately stayed away from motorways and dual carriageways when possible) just to see the difference in economy.
