That's what I thought, but then I thought to chill there has to be heat somewhere else and then with inefficiency of the chilling process there must be a net heating effect, but marginal.

The ones I have used chilled the air going through them. The air needed to be warmed by something else, either a heater or sunlight.

I guess like a refrigerator the heat extracted has to be dispersed but unlike a refrigerator it is not insulated so the cooled air and extracted heat between them are unlikely to make a meaningful contribution to the ambient temperature.

What i use is a desiccant dehumidifier, the byproduct of its operation is heat

Perhaps I am wrong and some models do warm the air before blowing it across the cooled condenser.

No not during this cold snap, not making anything. but then in summer they use very little, swings and roundabouts. You can understand why more sites will be closing during winter though. Imagine if I was on commercial leccy.

This is why the club sites don't want people to be able to opt of of paying for electric in the summer and then use more than they pay for in the winter.

Next year I think I will be trying harder to find sites without ehus. I don’t mind paying for what I use but using refillable gas is a lot cheaper than electricity plus the heating is far more effective on gas.

Jim, out of interest how many kWh's does that equate to per day?

Ok guys got some sort of update for you I switched to Lpg on Friday morning with heating set @ 9.5 degrees this morning Wednesday the gas has changed over to the other 11kg bottle, so five full days for 22ltrs of Lpg =£17.60 @ 80p per ltr so quite pleased with that result our van is 8.25 mtrs

Interesting as it gives me a rough cost on what it's going to cost me when we get back in January. That's a lot cheaper than electric thats for sure. out of interest did you get notification it had changed over or was it that you have been checking?

3 - 3.5Kw a day Harvey, so not leaving a lot out of your 4Kw allowance for other electrical needs. Once I sussed that out, I reverted to gas for the F/F.

Very similar gas consumption as I found Steve, albeit higher temperatures.

Looks like you saved a chunk of money. 22x7.08=155.76 kWh at an electricity price of 34p per kWh would have cost you £52.95.

Now that would be good and one that i have thought about getting installed. Wouldn't do it myself as likely to blow the MH up

155.76kWh divide by 10.96kWh per litre = 14.21 litres. Diesel At £1.72 x 14.21 = £24.42 which is more than the £17.60 spent on gas. Gas is still the winner.
