I’ve just had my renewal quote through and it’s gone up by £300! From £527 to £827. I had no claims or changes last year. Anyone else seeing similar price hikes?

I'm with LV that has gone up but it helped to keep the rise down by having the multicar policy.

In Poland I have not much choice as only one insurer will give cover for RHD and I have just renewed at £865, slightly down on last year, which I thought expensive, but since I have Fully Comprehensive for all Europe, not just EU, so includes Balkans and Morocco, Israel etc.

In the light of your quote I now consider it not expensive.

Also insurance here is for the vehicle not the driver, so Basia, or anyone else, would be insured if they have the correct C1 licence

I/we might assume that motor insurance is a self-contained business, so the premiums should be based on the underwriters' motor claims experience alone.

I am not so sure. I have been reading that big insurers are panicking because payouts under life policies are rising at an alarming rate. The article I have read is based on the USA, and mortality data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), but I would be surprised if the recent much higher mortality rates for similar age groups in the UK are significantly different. We keep reading about excess deaths in the UK.

Deaths up 45% for the over-45 age group for example. The payouts in 2021 were double those of 2020. Are the insurers raising their motor premiums partly because of this unexpected mortality rate that wasn't in line with their actuarial tables? Are we motorists in effect having to pay for the knock-on effects of Covid on the life insurers' finances? Food for thought.

Safeguard quoted me £300+ more than the renewal I accepted from my present Insurer.

Lifesure found me cover from one of the big insurance companies Ageas for only £40 more than last year and way cheaper than the usual players, like the big clubs, safeguard and comfort etc

My LV fully comp policy for the two of us on the Adria went down this year from to £319.14 to £311.10 - first year NCD kicking in I guess?

Make sure if you do change that all your policies have adequate cover from what you had before.
they do have a habit of hiding little things

I've been lucky so far this year:
We changed our (lease) car last month, there was an admin fee to transfer the insurance to the new car but the actual insurance was proportionately less.
I've just had a quote for renewing with the van with Safeguard and its only got up about £20, that's about 4%. I was going to shop around but having read this thread I might just bite their hand off.

My husband changed from Think to Caravanguard for our van when it doubled in price in October. I can't remember what we were quoted originally but Caravanguard was £375.

Been with caravan guard for years
although I check the market annualy at renewal
no one has beated caravan guard on policy cover
and are very competitive on price, and their service is exceptional

Change your insurance company, I’m with caravan and motorhome club (not a member) who have insured me with Highway insurance, last year was £167 this year £224 and I’m over 80 years old.
