enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
We've had our November booking cancelled (family visit and big craft fair on at Wortley Hall)

They've had some major issues with travellers recently, so have closed their site.

The Hall is also a wedding venue and conference centre so I can only assume those events were impacted upon. Some of the travellers were even members of the CMC - which is how they gained access!

I have been told the the CMC were asked for help but did nothing ....

We had a Haven booking deal at Walton on the Naze once. On arrival it was obvious that it had been overrun by itinerants and we were pestered by kids hanging around looking for “prizes”. After hours of this I complained to staff who did nothing so we left.
They really do disrupt and intimidate other campers, so you’re better off not being there.

When we were travelling in France some U.K. based itinerants arrived on site. They set up, including their trailer mounted washing machines plugged into the site supply, but refused to book in or give contact details.

Within twenty minutes two cars and eight Gendarmes arrived, fully armed, told them to move out or be arrested. They were gone within 15 minutes.

"That's the way to do it!"

Was that at Avignon, we had some of them, they even blocked the road as one of the guys drove to the shower and left van outside  their own washing machines plugged into toilet block. All vehicles were registered in Eire.

No it was in Burgundy where we had a base for 16 years, pre Bre-8t.

I must admit we enjoyed the show after the itinerants had totally ignored the young girl from reception. They had driven onto the site while reception was closed for lunch. They pitched their units, plugged in their washing machines etc and settled in.

Nothing unusual about that as a sign at the entrance told people to do that during closed office hours, and to report to reception when it reopened. When they didn’t report to reception she went to their pitches only to receive abuse and threats. She didn’t argue, just turned around, went back to the office, and called the Police.

When the arrived they didn’t mess about, went to the office first, then directly to the pitches involved. Spreading out around the perimeter while their senior officer laid down the riot act they simply stood still with hands near their holstered weapons.

The itinerants got the message pretty quickly.

The site reopened at the start of the 2024 season and it looks lovely to a passer by, but as I type this the police are there trying to remove more travellers
