Planning for January in Spain/Portugal/Morocco but struggling to decide on a site. Would like a reasonably laid back site with easy cycling to local town etc. I've been quoted 22€ a night with 4kw electric. Seems a bit steep, but not outrageous. Any suggestions?

Camping Cuevas Mar, Palomares, Almeria - reasonably close to Garrucha and not too far from Mojacar. Half a mile from the nearest beach. Mix of nationalities, including plenty of Brits - laid back vibe. There is a separate naturist section of the campsite. We were paying €18 euro ACSI rate winter 2019/20 (€17 the year before). Can't remember if the incuded un-metered electric is rated at 6 amp or 10 amp, think the latter? We stayed regularly - onsite bar and pool; also a great cafe / bar - Monikas - 150 yards outside the gate.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I think you'll find that's 4 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day included. Anything over that is charged for, usually at a reasonable rate. The amps rating of the hookup could be 16, 10 or 6 amps, most likely 10A.

We had the fridge on gas and 4KW a day was enough for 3 months we ended staying for due to Lockdown but that was in spain at €13 a night it was cheaper than Acsi rate so always try and get a deal dont think it will be so busy this year but yih never kniw.

We stayed at Camping Allegria at Benicarlo and treated ourselves to a Super Pitch at €17 per night 4 week stay [2019/20] incl. unlimited 6 amp electric [€2 supplement for 10 amp] on a pitch that was about 15 metres x 6 metres or so [near as damn it to 100 sq metres with the odd 'kink' for dividing hedges!]. About 300 metres walk to the beach using the Rear Gate, and a little over 1 mile from Benicarlo Town Centre. Site operated by a trio of English Sisters and their Spanish husbands. If you ignore the Road Trains of manic Germans riding electric bikes on the footpath and stopping for nobody [they ignore the cycle lane on the road! Must lack cycling competence ...], it's a lovely place to stay ... Just need John Cleese as Cycling Supervisor to make it perfect!

Stayed there twice in the last two years. Great spot, some pitches with netting shade overhead too. Really easy for shopping etc with Carrefour just up on the main road and (when open) quite a few bars on the route to Benicarlo town. When you get bored they do video swapsies in the minimarket on site! Last year stayed on the way home in October and had the beach to ourselves (great for the dog) every evening.

Will be back this year when passing south.

Allegria at Benicarlo is a bit too far north for my liking, but a transit place.
