I think we are going to go ahead with the day van, so expect many calls for help ;) the first one is about window blinds. The base vehicle has no blinds and although it will not be used for sleeping, we will have a toilet so we will need to have blinds or curtains, ideally blinds as long as we can get the right fit at not a huge cost. Has anyone used a company they are happy to recommend please?

You could try this supplier. I personally haven't used them but a friend did for his PVC conversion and he was pleased with their product.

On the cheap I'm going for either roller blinds, or my daughter will make some curtains to hand on wires.

Cheers James

When I did my VW T4 self build, I had curtains with rare earth magnets sewn into them. The curtains could be quickly drawn when required and didn’t hang away from the side of the van. If I was self building again, I would look in IKEA, and maybe use something like this

Cheers

Hmm, How good is Albert at not jumping up?
We took the decision to protect all our concertina blinds with perspex panels! They are stuck on to blind frames with velcro dots.

I don't think even Albert will be a problem, he is fine in the caravan and the blinds are only for when we use the toilet in the new van, it's a day only camper. In fact we bought it today and it has blacked out windows so we may be ok without the blinds. I haven't worked out how I'm going to convert it but I hope to make it all removable to go back to 7 seats if needed. We will be getting the new (ish) van at the end of this week or beginning of next, when I have it at home I will get a better idea of what is needed or possible. We bought the van second hand and it is the oldest vehicle we have bought in years, but now I'm retired I need to be a bit careful. The van a VW Caddy Maxi Life is about 18 months old and had lost a third of the purchase price in it's first 18 months

Show us some pics.

I did think of a caddy max life but thought it too small for myself and several kids!

I'm often down in Southampton with family in bitterne and parents in verwood!

Cheers James

Sounds great. I think personally I would feel more comfortable with some sort of curtain or bind even with tinted windows. ! That feeling of being able to see out whilst on the toilet :(

It depends on what you want it for, it has 7 seats and space for luggage it will suit us as a day Van but we are only 2 people.

I do bespoke blinds for my clients when doing campervan conversions... but if its just for the toilet curtains would probably do.. just tie backs so when your driving they arent moving about..
