Can anyone recommend a wild camping spot somewhere near where the A66 meets the M1, or close please.

Irnbru, dont think the M1, meets the A66, it does meet theA1 at scotch corner, and you can overnight there with toilets & a snack bar, hope thats what you

Can't think of any wilding spots around there. Lots of roadworks on A1M South of there and some possible sites now blocked off. Perhaps GJH may be able to help with suggestions as nearer to him as we usually just drive through that area on our way to or from places.

If you mean the lay by on the west bound side of A66 just after Scotch Corner, it does say no overnight parking on a sign at the entrance, not sure if it is or can be enforced though, Shame as useful spot, we often have a coffee there

It's the Sedbury Layby, think a few truckers overnight there, so might be noisy and you don't want to use the conveniences after dark

Well it is the A1M so you were both correct!

Do you want it for North or South bound or east or west on A66?

We will be travelling down the M6 onto A66 then A1 heading to Alfreton. Im guessing the A66 must be about a little over half way...so heading east then south, but we dont mind going a little of route. Just saw the layby mentioned on google maps. We will check it out But if noisy wont stop.

We stopped at the noisy scotch corner. Lorry engines going all night but we felt safe there considering we hac ££££££on us.
Stopped tonight in the retail park in Carlisle. Just been woken up by security and asked to move into the Argos car park til we leave early in morning.

Half way across the 66 there is the turn of to tan hill where you can stop or if it's just a quick sleep you want if you pull of where TAn hill is sign posted and follow the road for 2mins max there is a lay by on the left next to a cliff which is good.
For some sleep
