I was leavin to fly off to sunnier climes for work and I had measured my lithium batteries charged to 70%. Fine I thought I'll switch off all 12v hab..switch off my solar etc.. they will be fine for a week or so.

Did all this and monitored the current..0.4 was going somewhere so I assumed it was a rapido fit keeping cab battery topped up. (I've never measured it at cab).

As I was sat with all 12v off saying good bye to me van ;) after about 1 minute the water pump and front hand lights.switched on for literally half a second if that?..then off...I sat for a further 10 mins in the dark and it didn't happen again ? .

Ghouls...ghosts ? Static ? Residuals ? What ?

Rapido 8094...400ah of lithium..solar off and in dark.

Oh and light switch was in off position

Of no use at all but I once had a new car in 1970 which was fine in daylight but when at night the engine wouldn't stop unless you turned off the sidelights or took your foot off the brake pedal if the side lights were on.

Can anyone tell me what the issue proved to be? No prizes but respect to whoever knows what it was.....

As a mechanic I had to solve it or only go out in daylight or have the lights turned off.

When electronic circuits are switched on and off by a microcontroller, it uses tiny transistors to do the logic and switching. A tiny amount of electric charge is used to flip an output between on and off.

Trouble is, any old bit of charge can do this, not just the ones you want. A tiny bit of static, or even a cosmic ray from a distant galaxy hitting at just the wrong time. It's a big problem with satellite electronics, they have to be specially 'radiation-hardened', and the software is written so that whatever state it accidentally gets flipped to, it can recover quickly. Full marks for whoever wrote the software for your controller.
