Has anyone ever stayed at the Folly Gardens campsite in Whitby and if so what’s your thoughts about it.

We visit Whitby quite often but never stayed at Folly Gardens. It has mixed reviews on Search For Sites if they are to be believed.
The sites we used in the area have bus links or there is the park and ride.

It gets very mixed reviews indeed On Search for Sites

The site we stayed at was a couple of miles out of Whitby overlooking the sea!Nice site and bus stopped right outside! You could cross the road and walk down to sea front then walk into Whitby which we did a couple of times!but mostly we got our bus pass’s out caught the bus😊😊

We camped for 3 nights at Folly Gardens in July last year. A smaller site arranged on terraces and we had plenty of space around us - I could see it being a bit packed in non-Covid high season though. The showers etc. were very good and it’s a shortish walk to the town centre in one direction and up to the Abbey in the other. I can see that some might find the owners a bit brusque but we had no complaints.

We were at Middlewood Farm, Robin Hoods Bay a couple of weeks ago.
Very nice site, and direct access to the Cinder Trail.
Bus stop is 2 minute walk

I'd see if any of the temporary sites are available at the time you're coming unless you want showers etc there are quite a few through the summer.

If you only need fresh water, grey and black disposal i can recommend Shawn Riggs at Ruswarp. Small CS site with electric and easy access to Whitby either by bus, train or 30 minute walk.

We’ve stayed at Sandsfield House Farm campsite and found it to be very good in every aspect but I think it is very popular too and many seasonal caravans there so touring pitches reduced in numbers

Ditto good site but watch when you book as some dates are for a week only.
