Which breakdown cover?

I have breakdown cover with my Barclays bank account but I am struggling to get them to confirm exactly what that provides. The RAC who provide the service don't seem to know!

Next week I will be starting a trip around the NC500 in a small motorhome with my greyhound. I would like cover that would get me, the dog and the MH home should it become necessary. I do not wish to be in the situation where it is "up to the discretion of the recovery driver" whether the dog is transported. The ideal situation would probably be the option of a hire car to get home.
I am sure that many of you have the same situation so some recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know the only company that will guarantee the repatriation of your dog is Red Pennant, which is available through the CAMC.
Most of the others will most likely be ok, but as you have discovered, it is at the discretion of the driver.

I have managed to get an answer from Barclays now and the have confirmed that my dog is considered as a passenger and would be recovered with me. Lets hope I don't need to put it to the test!

I was looking at the Barclays accounts, as I ‘m already a customer. Unfortunately, the breakdown is UK only and our 6 metre van is too long!

Yet again, the devil is in the detail. Hope your van fits into their criteria.

Fortunately mine is under 5.5mtrs so I should be fine. I would prefer not to put it to the test though!!
