We're currently pottering around Alsace, actually drinking our way down the wine route. One possibility is to then go over the border to southern Germany, we have search for sites but which apps are recommended to find places to stay. In france we use ccp and Aires with occasional site to do our washing.

We found Campercontact to be far superior in Germany to SFS.
If you had 3 reviews on SFS you would find 30+ on CC.
There is another one called "Stellplatz" or something similar which is recommended by Germans we have asked but you get more in other countries from CC.

There are loads of aires in Germany but are called Stellplatzes. You can find them on google if you search for "wohnmobileplatz"

As well as Stellplatz & Campercontact, we’ve also got Campingradar (free with advertising), which is produced by Promobil magazine. Of course it’s easy to get so much info that you never know which app to use!! (Not a fan of S4S.)

I have never found SfS to have useful or recent reviews. Park4Night has a few ‘chancers’ giving great reviews for their stealth camping - but I find them easy to recognise and ignore. P4N (in my experience) has more current and genuine reviews and more sites than I’ve found elsewhere.
stellplatzfuehrer.de is good, but I’m happy that P4N covers it
