Threads that go in the belly locker are locked 30 days after the last post is made in the thread. So if the discussion is ongoing, they won't ever close. Once the threads have been dormant for 30 days and locked, I periodically manually delete them.

I had to go in there and delete a couple of threads this weekend that had become tit for tat bickering crap and noticed I hadn't deleted any for a while, so I did.

Trust me, none of the rubbish within is worth the hard disk space it occupies
