Is it normal to pay for a newish van before going through all the handover checks, or do you pay afterwards.

Depends what you mean by handover checks . Handover to me suggests showing how things work after you have purchased it . Any checks would need to be made before purchase . Hopefully a newish vehicle would come with some dealer or manufactures warranty .

As the word suggests, handover is done when you’ve paid for it. It doesn’t relate to checks it’s going through how everything works.

Always had a check on the van to ensure everything working and paperwork in order before any final payments handed over

I had an argument when we bought our first moho. I looked in the gas locker and it was bare, not even a regulator. When I mentioned this I was told “oh there all sold like that” so I said well this one won’t be.
How do I check that everything works before I pay you I asked? I want to make sure the fridge works, the water heater, the central heating, the cooker. It soon had a regulator and a half full gas bottle installed.

Also don't pay a big deposit either.
