I've just had a maxxair fitted, and I'm pretty hot.

Just wondered if any of you more experienced fanners could tell me when to use the different modes? Which is best for which scenario?

I shall also continue to experiment....

I'm unlikely to be in 35 degrees as I don't go to places that get that hot, or not at least at the times of year they do. Mid twenties tends to be my limit

But what if it’s boiling hot outside there’s no cool air, it’s totally still and boiling hot 35+ degrees does a Maxxfan do any good?
if the sun is on the windows it's still going to be warner outside so a fan sucking out and windows open on the cooler side will help, don't forget to close the windows and turn the fan off when you switch the air con on though

Buy a second one. They work best together.

If it's absolutely baking sun, I tend to have the window cracked on the shaded side and the MaxxAir on suck. My logic is the air on the roof is probably hot, so no point dragging it in...

At night, we tend to have it gently blowing down on us, it's immediately over our drop-down bed. With the windows closed and the roof vent on the other end of the van open.

But is that suck or blow?
I think it depends where the fan is and where you are when you want maximum benefit, if you are in bed under the fan then blowing in over you and out he windows should OK if the fan is another place it might be better to have the fan on suck and the windows open on the cool side of where you want to be, for fan is in the kitchen but on an evening we will just open the bedroom windows and open the doors from bedroom to lounge and hey presto the bedroom is as cool as it's going to be.

We have two - rear bed area suck, lounge area blow - creates a nice air flow and removes cooking vapours too.

Ours is over the bed but at the feet end. The roof vent that is already there in the living room area is too big for a second fan.

We had a normal fan in the Hymer roof that had 3 speeds suck or blow.
Open the windows and cover the open ones that are in the sun with towels, clothes pegs will help with that, door open too.
If it’s really hot a fan won’t really do anything except move the hot air from one place to another!

Always suck in my van. At night 30%. With ONLY the windows open beside the beds. Fresh air drawn in over you 👌🏻👌🏻

Ours is central works a treat with it sucking out with bedroom windows and rooflight on vent. Still works well when the temps are in the 30's.

We usually reckon on suck during the day and a slow blow at night. The maxxaire is over the beds. It would be good if we could do something with the large vent over the lounge area, it's one that just rises a couple of inches or it did but now seems totally seized. I would much prefer a heki but the hole is the wrong size for one.

jumar recently fitted a 800 x 500 Chinese Heki style vent to his Hymer.

Our Maxxfan is always SUCK! On very high when we get back to the van after a day on the beach, and while cooking; then low or lowish after and at night.

Is there any way to allow in air from underneath the van?

It will be in the shade and cooler than anywhere else.

If you can make a 'cowl' and attach ducting to it (the type used for cooker hoods etc might be suitable), and drop the ducting down the outside and put the end under the MH it might work. People will probably think you've got a baby elephant on board sticking it's trunk out of the top though! :giggle:
