Living the dream.
Just had jacks fitted @SAP Doncaster, very pleased with the job and everything went well until we stopped for a brew about fifty miles from there and noticed a wheel trim missing. As the van is four years old and has never lost one I can only assume it wasn’t fitted correctly and after a phone call to SAP it turns out it was my fault because I didn’t check properly 😳
So £29.99 later I have a replacement that will along with the others be cable tied on.
Check your wheel trims guys 👍

That's a bit cheeky (and a pain in the butt)!

After 5 years of owning the van we noticed in June this year that we had lost one wheel trim. I’d often thought I should cable-tie them as they never seemed to fit that well all round the tyre.
I tried unsuccessfully to locate just one trim/hubcap so in the end bought a set of 4 plastic trims that, when fitted, look smarter than the originals. And all for £19 delivered.
They fit better than the originals too though not perfectly. So, this afternoon, I’m out with the cable-ties.

Was reminded by salesman to get the wheel trims cable tied as Rapido ones are hens teeth and a price. So one day I took one off just to prove I could undo the wheel bolts . Went for a little jaunt there it was gone. Couldn't get a Rapido got a Fiat one the "last one" at £8 from grimsby.

Mick didn’t have anything to do with the install as far as I could see Lenny.
It was the fact it was all my fault that upset me.
Just for clarity Paul are you saying that Mick/SAP didn't have the wheels off so nothing to do with them, or are you saying that they are suggesting that it's your fault for not checking they had put them back on correctly.

I'm sorry I may be alone on this but how naff is it that wheel embelishments need to be cable tied on!! I see it and understand why but it's not a good look is it in 2022 surely!
Fortunatel my transit ones stay on on there own but they are exceedingly tight. All others I have had have had to be cable tied on.

The trims on my car and my motorhome are quite tight fitting ,I think it would be near impossible for them to just fall off

But why take the chance ...I've always put cable ties on trims

The wheels were on and off a number of times Martin funflair as we overnighted in their yard. When I noticed the one missing I rang to see if it was in the workshop and was told it was my fault for not checking them.

The van Is four years old and have stayed on without ties then they were removed and after being replaced one came off. I agree that it shouldn’t happen with properly fitted trims.

That's ridiculous. So when you get a service done are you meant to drain the oil to check if they changed it.

They should be ashamed of themselves ..

I'm afraid that the nice people who go to CP Accessories for their wheel trims won't be stopped by cable ties, as I found on my Transit van some years ago.
Cable ties would of course have helped save Paul Badknee in this case and I'm surprised that for the small cost involved traders don't fit them as standard.

As the trims have never needed ties Brian perhaps correctly fitted it might have stayed on? ☹️

Incidentally, those who use cable ties, do you do two per wheel or just one? If the trim comes off and is held by one tie, won’t it shake loose as you drive?
