Hi all, so we overfilled the toilet and I've been cleaning but found this flap under where the cassette fits, anyone know what it's for?

As others have said. Some have an extraction fan, and a carbon filter that lives in there. But you don’t have these fitted, so just get the void.

Yay a toilet thread :)

When you press your flush button you should see a fan decal light illuminate on the switch panel, and hear a high pitched whiney sound as the fan spins to life (letting your neighbours, as well as anyone in your van know you are occupied). The fan extracts air through the cassette (can be nice to stop you fumigating yourself whilst on the little throne). Assuming you have that fan then this replaceable charcoal filter thing is supposed to stop the nasty niffs from the extract wafting downwind to annoy your neighbour.

If you don't have the fan, you don't need the filter.

It is for the filter and fan as said but beware that it may not be set up for it. I had the same problem had an overflow that filled the void with water, after cleaning out the fan didn't work so i bought a new fan (from Germany) and a pack of filters (at a very good price) and then found that there was no hole drilled beneath the fan for the smells to be extracted to making the system useless. This was factory fitted by Autotrail on a Tribute 615 .

The OP doesn’t have the extractor system fitted as there is no fan in the hole where it should be.

For some reason the previous owners fitted a SOG as well as the fan…… maybe they liked hot curries

If anyone is interested, I have 7 of these filters spare. Ordered one and they sent 8. Insisted that was the correct order (it was from CMC webshop). Only paid for one……
I did the same order and was happy to send the other 7 back but they insisted it was correct

Amazon is often not the 'cheapest' place to buy it may be convenient but the same product with CMC £20 or £18 if you are member
But have to wait over a month for it. Was the same the other day when I was looking at buying something very different, and that had a massive delay in receiving it.

Sill no reason to pay over the odds from Amazon, just looking for some para cord and many places are sold out there is a big issue on importing stuff at the moment.
