Whats best tow car and trailer or A frame.

Im looking to get a tow car but cant decide on what or wether A frame or small trailer. Whats everyones thoughts please... cheers.
 
We’ve had both. Trailer for a car that couldn’t have an A frame fitted due to age and going abroad. Now got one on an A frame as we won’t be taking it abroad.
Trailer needs storage room and adds to the towing weight but you can easily reverse them.

Often asked.......many opinions on here.
However, as you don't have the m/h yet you'll need one with sufficient train weight allowance.

It really depends on the type of MH‘ing you will be doing. Uk, Euro zone??

If UK, ’A’ Frame
If Euro zone - trailer is preferred but there will be compromises in terms of storage at home and on sites

Well mostly uk. But heard bad things about A frames but never trailers plus most autos cant be flat towed.

We have used an A frame for around 12 years now in Uk never had any problems towingAframes Chesterfield best over run one, towbarsto towcars great electronic one if we go abroad I’ll take the scooter

I agree ref A frame. we’ve being A framing since 2018 (manual Fiat 500), mainly France but also UK. Much, Much easier when arrival at sites, takes under a minute to de-couple, and a couple of minutes to fold up the frame and put in the boot.

Driving with one on is a breeze, you forget the car is on the back, other than taking slightly bigger arcs when negotiating tight turns (generally around campsites).

Reversing is a nightmare though, so generally we do not do it. Can get around it by finding a large turnaround point or at worst (which has happened on at most a half dozen occasions - de couple).

We would struggle to comfortably store a car transporter trailer at home, so went down the A frame route.

A frame. We have been towing a Fiat 500 with a LNB Towmaster A Frame. They are dear but very well engineered and have electronic braking via a separate servo and and emergency servo activated by the brake away cable.

We have towed in the UK, France and Spain. Main reason is we only have 1,000kg train weight.

As for legality there are many opinions. Mine is that if the towing and towed vehicle are registered in the UK they are legal for upto 6 months. A British caravan can still be legally towed in France/Spain without conforming to their transport standards.

TowA frame Up! For uk ease of use storage. Also a spot on car. Tardis like! 2 people MIL Wheelchair and 3 boxes of shopping.

Yep, we tow a Fiat Abarth on an LNB A Frame and had a previous Kia on another LNB A Frame. No complaints from us and will use them again if/when we change the Abarth.

Well everyone just bought Toyota IQ on an Armitage A frame.
Had the IQ a few years ago...Wish we had kept it! Great turning circle and brilliant to tow. You won't look back. Oh....dont attempt to put anyone in the back! You will need a tin opener ! Fold the seats flat and use it as a boot! Great little car!
