Hi All,

As per the headline, I have been gifted the above Inverter by my genorous BIL.

The Connecting cables are robust but have no in line fuse.
Could you good peeps please advise as to the correct capacity for an in line fuse to fit between the battery and Inverter.

Thanks in advance.

Could draw 200A+ so I would use a 300A fuse. If you have a fuse between multiple batteries this needs to be adequate also.

2000W at 12V is 167A so I would fit a MEGA fuse of around 175A rating. MEGA fuse sizes are quoted as their working current, they blow at twice the stated current. :)

Similar question. Mine is a PSW 1500W marked 1500/3000 so I assume 3000w is peak max. I intend to use it for a 1300W Tassimo coffee maker. Am I right in thinking that a mega fuse of around 270A is required? I’m running it from a pair of gel habitation batteries. Hat size wires should I connect it with? Any other advice?

If you are just going to use it for a 1300W coffee maker, which will draw about 110A in a steady state then I suggest you could get away with a mega fuse around 150A or even 125A. Remember they don't blow until the current flow is twice the rating so either will handle any increased starting current. A 270A fuse won't blow until 540A which may mean your cables are melting before the fuse goes. :)

They are not expensive so I suggest for safety go as low as possible. You could buy both a 125 and a 150. Fit the 125 first and if it blows fit the 150. :)

200A out of leisure batteries. You can almost hear the plates inside buckle. :gum:

Missed your Q about cable sizes. Have a look at the link in my signature about fitting an inverter. This might help. Cable size depends both on current and length of cable.

Thank you for your help. Your article ( on the link) is perfect for what I want to do!
