What do dogs dream about?

On a regular basis Laika the wonder dog will wag her tail frantically while sleeping or whimper . Last night she howled as she slept.
I have asked her but as yet, she's not told me.

They're doing the same as humans, I think, processing their day.
Mine will "yip" in their sleep and twitch their paws. Occasionally lip twitching as well. I assume they're doing a re-run of that day's exercise.

Whatever our Dachshund dreamed about last night made her nervous - She wanted a number 2 at 03:08 this morning!

On a couple of occasions Spice has sat up in the middle of the night and howled like a wolf and immediately gone back to sleep. A bit of a wake up for us as he sleeps between us on our bed.
