What’s this red light for?

Some time ago I put this photo on and had the answers I needed. One other question ,when I turn the knob a red light comes on why and what is it for?

It’a small heating element on the gas regulator / changeover valve
Only needed in very cold conditions when there is a risk of it freezing
 
Many thanks. Now I know all the answers to problem of the control knob.
