Is there a published table of full and empty weights of gas bottles? I’m not sure if mine needs replacing yet - it’s quite tricky to get out.

Not that I know of but the tare (empty) weight is usually stamped on the bottle neck.
LPG is around 2ltrs per kilo.
Therefore a 13kg bottle will hold 26ltrs
26ltrs plus the tare = total weight of full bottle.

If you only want to weigh it to find out how full it is that is not necessary. Poor boiling water down the side and then feel the cylinder for where it changes from warm to cold. A towel at the bottom to soak up the water

Useful tip for the future. I pop the new bottle on the bathroom scales and write the full weight on the top collar. when I want to check how much is left I just weigh it again and do the sums.

IIRC a 6kg Calor bottle is usually between 13.8 and 14kg when full.

Same here only I use one of those luggage weighing thingammies - more portable than the bathroom scales :)

Sounds like a useful idea for the new Safefill bottles which are impossible to see. I will investigate.

update:
£4.99 from Amazon - to be delivered tomorrow.
Weighs 180 gms - so shouldn't damage the payload limit too much.

Ditto. I'm just running down a couple of exchange bottles on UK trips ready for my pair of refillable Gaslows 6Kgs. I have one of the Gaslow 6Kgs plumbed into the ally skirt filler nozzle, and a nb2 type bottle with a separate filler nozzle. I can then lift out one bottle easily if only doing local-ish trips.
Mike.
