New to motorhomes 2019
Just had our Dethleffs Alpa weighed before setting for Germany and beyond.

Good news is at fully, fully, fully loaded came in with some tolerance left on all axles ?.

That included 160l of water and 120l of diesel, full gas AND worryingly about 70l of wine, spirit, mixers etc ?, 2 bikes and hopefully.more tools than I will ever need So loads of additional potential capacity if needed!

Point of post is the address below is controlled by the local councils and charged £5 including front and rear plus total weight with printed certificate.

Last year I used Durham council waste depot and they charged £24 for gross weight only ?

Metrology Laboratory,
Saltmeadows Rd, Gateshead NE8 3AH

Hi, We've used that one as well and it's excellent! Before we came away (ended of January) we weren't going to be able to get to the Gateshead weighbridge before they closed at 4pm so we went to the Belsay weighbridge (£5) which is actually on a farm just of the main road, and the farm owner arranged to meet us at the weighbridge at 6pm which was really kind of him - he's really helpful! We're near Corbridge so we have also used the weighbridge across in Haltwhistle (£10) which is right beside the A69 in the Stone quarry. Btw there's also one in Consett but it's a lot more expensive - something like £25. Well done on your "weigh in" today before your trip - our of interest is your new motorhome 3.5 tonne?

We got ours weighed free at a timberyard in the borders not bothered about a certificate unless you get stopped on the way home it's no use.

That's good to know and much cheaper than the council places up North.

What were your figures? You can't post-up without spilling the beans (y)

Also used the Metrology Laboratory on way back from Germany
You just drive on and ring bell at window
Found site ok but got lost on way out

Hi, apologies it's just down the road from Consett in Annfield Plain - here's the County Durham website with their Weighbridge details:

Hope this helps! ?
Thanks for that, last time I was there they wanted £20 per axle , will visit the
Metrology Laboratory, next time , Thanks for the info.

We had ours weighed by the lads at Durham Council, they did both axles and gross for one fee :-) Very helpful chaps.

I use one just off the A19 at Wingate turn off its free.

Rear axle had 49kg spare but now I know can offload some of the garage to a more central locker.
March Hare Not 3.5 ton, it was upgraded.to 5400kg

I've got little signal where I am tonight will upload a cert later but it was 1880 front against allowance of 2200 and 3160 rear against 3200.

Also that's everything maxed out on potential load so probably drop some water on way home and even more booze if required ?

Im Lucky, we have two weighbridges at my works which I can use every day, which reminds me I need to get my new van rally ready and take it for a weigh in? On a side note I took it for MOT t‘other day and the lad said it weighed just over 3 ton, quarter tank of fuel and fresh water, which leaves me nearly 1200kg to play with? Happy days?

Public weigh bridges should be free, and any bridge maintaned/owned by VOSA, all free

Hi, weigh bridge just off A68 at Grain store, Charesfield industrial, St Boswells, Scottish Borders. Grain storage silos can be seen for miles!

I used to use the Annfield Plain council depot but silky price for what a involved.
My friend had a weighbridge installed at his dairy so do it myself. I love perks.

That's expensive John, they charged us £20 last year for both axles and a single weigh. I'll use the place that Ken frequents next time.
