Each time we go we use a different route up and back. This time using P4N and S4S we came across 3 beautifully quiet village Aires, 2 near canals and one a river. All 3 were free to park and services at a cost of €2 once and the others nothing, but I would happily have paid. We found these after travelling North from Macon and while talking to the chef I said we have a similar landscape and features so why can't this work in the UK? Back came the prompt reply....because the Brits would spoil it. Sadly I couldn't argue with that.

We have travelled in France and used a mix of Aires, municipal sites and campsites. All different all great. Stopped at a municipal site in Sommiers only 2 star but really nice with a pool. A young family trying to make a go of it. They said bookings were low felt really sorry for them.

Having worked in France on a couple of occasions ,i can completely agree with how the French people live and look after their country. I was enlightened by more than one occasion in that ,,,their education system teaches them from a VERY young age ,to RESPECT the whole of the country in EVERY way .RESPECT ,was the upmost word used every time .
" DON'T litter/DON'T damage/ Look after your country ," France is for the FRENCHMAN " .

I would be interested to know which Aires you stopped at as we are going to Chenas just outside Macon in August.
