So we have a 4 night Motorhome holiday booked, pick up and drop off in Edinburgh. This is our first toe in the water to see how we get on ahead of possibly buying one, myself my husband and our German Shepherd.

Where do we go, suggestions much appreciated as no idea, help! X

Have a great time. We hired three of differing layouts. This was to help decide what we needed. From where you are any direction is great. I would head North West personally. Spend some time inside and work out what works for you and what doesn’t. We eventually decided we wanted an island bed. Many prefer more lounge area. It’s all a compromise. We even watched tv one evening. This helped us decide that don’t really need one.
Again have a great time and don’t try to do everything in a few days.

Falkirk wheal kelpes nip over the brig to east lothian try a night wild camping
bill

We are also great fans of the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies. Staying overnight at the Falkirk Wheel is cheap and safe, but no hook up so the state of the batteries is important.

Read the insurance carefully. We hired first and the excesses were very high. We opted to take the extra full cover.

We hired one to, back in 2018, loved it. Stayed on various Caravan & Motorhome club CL's. motored up to Scotland. Absolutely loved it. Think you just have to do your own thing to start with, whatever takes your fancy. You will soon work out what you prefer and learn from others that you talk to.

We ended up buying the van we hired, have't looked back since.

Hired one in 1990, now on our 9th motorhome and still living it.

So much can ge gained from hiring before making a big commitment to buy.

Have a great time.

we are hiring in April and heading North to Skye but we have 8 days so a bit more leeway to go further, as others have said a good idea to try first i think, we had thought end lounge would be a perfect layout for us so hired one and second night we were sleeping on the couches, overcab bed not so good, for us anyway. so now 2nd hire , trying transverse bed this time... wish us luck, cant be worse than a squeaky swaying overcab (hopefully) enjoy your hols wherever you end up.
