Hi just wanting to see what people’s experience with auto trails and water ingress are they ok for it or bad?

I was expecting this thread to run and run with lots of conflicting responses, so I was settling down with some snack.
To be fair all makes have owners who have had problems and owners who love them.

I think that if you use the search facility, you will find quite a few instances of water ingress in Autotrails - or not

Hi,we had an Autotrail Cheyenne for ten years and it was in its tenth year that some moisture was coming in via the join between the cab and the hab all sorted with a renewal of the seals /seams with some sikaflex problem solved .

Personal experience..
Bought new apache 700 in January 2012, maybe one of the first registered with the 10 year ingress warranty.
Owned for 7 years, loved the van.

HOWEVER. 6 out of 7 years had ingress claim and went back to the factory on 6 occassions.

Had same model van but 2005 for 5 years and perfect, only issue was a flue seal that started to perish. £20 and sorted.

Many owners have had no issues at all and more than happy, Some have had ingress or other faults. Some owners may have had issues but not been keen to share the problems. I was once very active on the Facebook AT group and many of the issues are the same and never seem to get cured even when the factory know about them.

That said, I bought the Burstner and thought what a world of difference in build quality BUT have heard many problems with certain models of this brand

we have an 07 cheyanne and have had no issues. we did have a stress fracture one winter but autotrail repaired foc even though there was no warranty. very pleased with the van and the service from autotrail

Had our Apache 700 from new in 2004 and have put 106k on the clock, we have a habitation service every year and so far have only had the door seal re sealed for a minor leak. Had a Autotrail Cheyenne before that with no problems whatsoever.

Had an Imala bought new in 2016, major damp by 2019, repaired poorly by Autotrail dealer, sold it by end of 2019.
Not impressed with Autotrail build quality or the dealer however have friends who love theirs and have no problems.

Poor reputation it seems, but perhaps those who have been caught out are understandably the ones making a lot of noise. Mine is an AT pvc, but apparently made by Roller Team in Europe. No probs with damp. I personally would hesitate to by a new non pvc, plastic one, I guess a second hand one with proof might be better, but which seller would admit their van was one of the bad ones?

We had a Scout from new and no ingress problems in the 5 years we owned it.

Had to remove and re seal the solar panels on our Arapaho as the previous owner fell on them oh and replaced the Ariel as all the seals had perished. All good now

We had a Cheyenne 696G new in 2006, water leaked into two overhead lockers due to lack of sealant where the factory fit awning was installed. We only discovered the problem the day we were emptying it to hand it over to the dealer in PEX for a new Hobby.
Fortunately it was still covered by warranty(just) & the dealer accepted it for the agreed PEX value.

What was curious was the fact that we had paid the same dealer for a habitation check the week before........ and no damp had been found......
