I am a newbie
Hi, hopefully I have a quick one about the water heater, once the heater is on to heat the water do you leave on or turn off. I would think it is the same for gas Why.
Many thanks.

We used to leave ours on all the time but the water heater is under where we sleep and it wakes us up when it lights up to maintain the temperature. We now turn it off at night and back on in the morning. It only takes 20 minutes to heat up. I have not noticed any increase in running costs - but I am sure someone will be able to work it out!

Note that I am still trying to train SWMBO to turn it on in the morning so that bit is still a work in progress....

Set the timer for a hour or two in the morning for showers use a kettle during the day for washing up.
Leaving it on all the time will encourage limescale build up and it will need descaling more often.
