Hymer CS-544-K
Good morning
my daughter has just bought a 1999 Hymer Swing model CS-544-K (left hand drive, re-registered in uk 2001).
im trying to find out how to drain the Truma B10 water heater. I’ve looked at the on line Truma instruction manual which shows, as expected, a lever valve near the base of the tank but there isn’t one on ours…

we are also looking for an English instruction manual (I’ve found one for a B544 but there are differences).
Advice would be appreciated
thanks
Bobb (Plymouth)

Ours isn’t a lever valve it’s a pop up valve. It opens automatically when the temp get near freezing to protect the water heater.

most vans have both the frost valve and the lever one which is a pressure release valve usually situated to drain the heater the frost valve wouldnt open if the thermostat for the heater failed making your heater into a potential bomb
its clearly shown in the truma manual for the b10 model

Thanks Badknee and Paul.
That’s very interesting, I’ll do some more homework on the auto frost valve (let’s hope it works!) However, surely, if there is no manual drain option, water could potentially remain in the boiler for months on end!
I’ve seen the B10 manual diagrams and there is definately no lever on ours….
thanks again

You can open the pop up valve by popping it up manually. Also check out a hatch in the floor covering a gig screw off cap to the fresh water tank. Both our Autocruise and Hobby had a big plug in the bottom that drained the tank in seconds.

Thanks Paul
draining the main water tank is not a problem but I’ll persevere in trying to find the hot water pop up valve so that I can drain that too….

Have you had a look under the van,you shold be able to see the end of the drain comlng through the floor, you'll possibly be looking for something like this.

Thanks Richard, I'll take a look....

Well, I’ve looked underneath the camper and all I can see is the end of a red hose sticking out a couple of inches directly (beneath the boiler area). Looking inside the wardrobe, this piece of red hose is teed off what I would think is the main (red hose) feed (from near the top of the boiler) to the taps and shower.
The only thing of note is that just after the tee piece there are 2 jubilee clips connecting a small (3/4”) plastic thing within the pipe. I‘ll try and upload a photo….
Thanks
Bob

Red is for the hot side Bobb544 so your on the right track.

The red elbow is an anti vac device to allow air in when you empty the boiler you should have the valve with the lift up lever somewhere have a look see if there is a hole in the floor below the part with two jubilee clips that would indicate someone has removed it and bridged the gap. Also look from below see if you can see another pipe through the floor to indicate where your prv is
