Planned a grocery shopping trip to Lidl in Coulommiers, France, today and was met with this 2.1 metre height restriction -

Why do they do it?

Why don't they want motorhome customers?

Is this widespread at Lidl in France now?

This is the first time I’ve seen it with Lidl but have experienced such barriers on Le Clerk and Intermarché in various locations. A real shame.
Stop buying Brie, in protest!🙃

Did you look for another entrance where the deliveries go in?
Yeh, I think it was a 'smart' barrier, that was remote controlled. Presumably they open it for delivery wagons?

Same thing on both entrances.

Maybe if I'd located a buzzer / intercom and shouted "Camping Car", perhaps they would have let me in? ;)

There's a height barrier at LeClerc in Bergues also, though it seems to be only on the fuel station which seems a bit daft. I've never seen travellers in a supermarket carpark anywhere, I don't think it's for that reason.

Same at a large Leclerc off the motorway near Reims. There were lots of carpark entrances all with a height barrier. There was one entrance at the very end with no barrier, this may have been locked at night. What will protesters do when they can no longer get in to tip piles of rotting manure and burn old tyres in the carparks?

Perhaps park up against the barrier blocking the car park entrance and then go and remonstrate with the manager. If you have enough water, you could withstand a three day siege. ;)

That LeClerk off the motorway at Rheims is a nightmare to both get in and, if you’re lucky enough to do so, get out of! Have never been able to exit after filling up and find my way back onto the motorway heading home.

Its a surprise being Lidl, we ve encountered quiteva few with dedicated mh parking ( not in britain obviously)

They all havetheir moments, we like Mercadona as a shop but so often struggle with height barriers, however we went to the Mercadona near Pontevedra and it had a sign directing caravannas to the next entrance, having raised our expectations we were met with a no entry sign and an incredibly tight turn and two slightly wider but car length bays so we parked on the road as usual 😁

We found worse over here, a 2m restricted width exit 😳

Avoid Oxford Headington I think it will be called, madness, by pass gate option locked nobody could find a key, we had to leave via the entrance to the shouts from the locals as they tried to enter telling me I was going the wrong way , some less politely than others 🤔

It could be regional, iirc some Lidl stores over there have service points.

Absolutely! It was also far too big and the person at the checkout was more concerned with talking to a colleague than dealing with our shopping. We'll never go back.

The lidl St Hesdin has had it for years. Says 2m. I kept looking at it thinking "that's more like 3m?" As I was 2,8m I went and got me tape and it was. Sloped as well so drove in on high side. Can't park outside as they put yellow lines in to stop the car transporters from shopping there.

Not in the stores near us. They're car parks are open to all. That's shocking!
