Vote for “G” for SPOTY this evening

I see that there is only 6 to choose from. Is that so they can steer the public to who they want to win as there is less choice ?

Lost interest in it completely when they started telling you who you could vote for. Anything other than major sports "celebrities" don’t get a look in nowadays. Pathetic.

On the basis that I have lost trust in the cyclists and athletes it will be Lewis Hamilton for me. I would have gone for Tyson Fury if he didn’t have that dodgy drug ban.

What about Richard Johnson, jockey.
No to Fury even though a great fighter same reason as @Chris, Dina Asher Smith has had a great year too.

Cycling certainly has a bad press with cheating doesn't it, that's why I don't think Geraint Thomas will win, even though he is clean, the sport gets tainted, what with Therapeutic Use Exemptions, the leak by the Russians took its toll as well.

I thought the thread title said vote for the G spot, I would be all for that:xThumb:

Last time I placed an X was in the football competition In the Liverpool Echo...Spot the ball:xgrin:
You remember that don’t you @bigfoot .

Graham Hill gets my vote, or Jim Clarke..

Looked at the title and all i could see was
G SPOT :xeek::xdoh:, and i would vote for it----------------- if i could find it :xrofl::xrofl::xrofl:

Me too - Lewis is in a higher league to the others and by a long way.:xcool:
Really???? And how many hours a day is he out in the pissing rain and cold training, I’ll bet geraint is out everyday for at least 6 hours rain or shine, even on a “rest day” at the tour they do a 6 hour ride!!

Oh and for a fraction of the wages!

You could have something there but I'm just F1 biased after I was fortunate to glimpse a frontline insight into the sport a few years ago.

I get the whole resilience thing in the wet and the rain but the F1 arena to me is just one step from the heavens.

I will vote, as long as I know what i am voting for

And if it doesnt go my way, i will sulk for 2 years and then ask if we can have another vote ( and then another presumably until they get it right)

As much as I admire Lewis Hamilton and all he has won, put him in a car that is always at the back of the grid and I don't think he would win much.
Surely it has to be won by someone who does it on there own without the aid of fast cars etc etc.
Just my two penneth. :xThumb:

I can’t be doing with F1 it’s become the most boring form of motorsport ever. Till they put clutches and manual gearbox’s in I’ll never watch it. In the year 2000 I spannered for a lad in the British Superbikes, now that was exciting, they even did overtaking, sometimes several times from one corner to the next. I don’t particularly rate Lewis, I think he’s a bit of a poseur, much prefer Damon HIll, Mansell and Hunt, they had “character” and Senna was the best driver ever. Period.

Do they reveal the total numbers of votes cast for each person or is it all top secret ?

All motorsport inc F1 should be in a separate competition IMHO, as all the others dont rely on having the best equipment funded by the richest teams. Don't get me wrong I too like motorsport, even F1 but its almost a foregone conclusion which team will take the trophy, the smaller teams have no chance in keeping up with the rich guys.

Athletics is relying on an individual skill, fitness, mental strength mainly, not the level of sponsorship of the team or the performance of the equipment behind them.

Even though F1 drivers are very fit, they have to be, I wonder how the F1 result would be different if all F1 drivers had to compete with cars of matched performance/sponsorship & team funding, therefore making it a much leveler playing field. That's what most of them did when they started in Go Carting, and that's where they made their names, but all changes when they get into F1 as you can only be as good as your car.

I would vote for Ronny O Sullivan, 8 times winner of the UK snooker championship this year and a world record in the sport, but he is not even nominated.
This BBC award is so unfair, we the public should be able to nominate who we think deserves it, not just one of the 6 that they have chosen.(from a team of selected sports experts)
Rant over, but just my opinion, everyone has their own I guess.

What about cycling then, the best bikes with the best ( most invisible to testing) drugs

Where’s your proof??? Geraint is clean. Can’t speak for Wiggins, all that was a bit underhand I grant you, but it was only for the benefit of Wiggins, non of the other riders was involved. Chris Froome had an anomaly with his asthma meds and was cleared, and IMO was a far better rider than Wiggins. And for the record, Pinarello aren’t the best bikes out there, prob not even in the top three!!

I'm very happy with that.

It wasn't want I wanted but it went to a democratic vote and the chap won.

Well done.
