Hymerbell any good for you?
Oh my ! Totally confused....is that a phone sim ? What does it mean uncapped ? Is it uncapped for roaming ? How does cash back work ? Why do they do they do cashback...why not just give the price...are they relying on you not to get the cashback because it’s too much of a pain to do it...arrrgh !

I suspect the reduction only applies for the first year. Worth checking if you can leave at the end of this period or if you are tied in for say two years.

No idea why they do cashback. :)

They are also offering an unlimited data deal with the same cashback offer which works out at £12 a month. Only hassle with these deals is you have to apply for the cashback each month but you can do that online with Fonehouse, apparently it only takes a few minutes and they pay directly back into your bank rather than send a cheque, which a number of other vendors who offer cashback deals do.

I was looking for a roaming sim only deal yesterday but the Vodafone Red bundles looked to have a 4Gb roaming limit and any unlimited plan seemed to have a 25Gb limit so I ended up sticking with my Giffgaff 20 Gb roaming 80Gb UK data package.

ok for info i have a fonehouse vodaphone deal with cashback it has worked faultlessly so far i claim a £33.00 5 times throughout the year on a one year deal but there is a downside at the end of the year you cant just take another voda deal out you can just go elsewhare or do what i did and move your number to a pay as you go and then take another fonehouse voda deal out if that makes sense

You lucky girl!

I went to sign up for vodafone, dumping 3. We actually confirmed everything with vodafone, went next door to 3 and sacked them. When we went back to vodafone shop to sign up found out we couldn't. We do not have a UK address!

Had to go back to 3 and sign up again!!

Yes a phone sims but can be used in a mifi AFAIK. You need to read the T&Cs for the sim for exactly what is meant by uncapped etc as they all vary. As for cashback, I have a deal via Mobiles.co.uk and all I have to do is let them have 5 bills over the year (they tell you which months they want), they need them every 2 months and they must receive them within 60 days of the date of the bill itself so plenty of time to do it. It's very easy to do: I just log onto their site and upload a copy of the bill - I actually make a 'bit' of work for myself as I usually have a 5 page bill in pdf format so I upload it to an on-line editor where I can delete the last 3 pages which are not required, then save it as a new document containing just the first 2 pages and simply upload it to their site. Once done I get a confirmation email to say they have received it and then usually a few days later another email to confirm my cashback claim has been accepted and in due course a cheque is sent for the cashback amount.

They do cashback I believe probably because they get the sims direct from the suppliers (Vodafone in my case) at a highly discounted price and pass on some of the benefit to their customers (ie me). I suppose they do hope that some people forget to do the cashback in which case the full contact cost is chargeable, but I suspect this doesn't happen that often as the people who use these deals would hopefully be more 'on the ball' about it and ensure they meet the terms.

Our deal is 1 year and when it comes to the time to renew we'll just see what's on offer then - as things are changing a lot in the mobile phone/data world IMV it would be extremely silly to sign up for more than a year nowadays.

Crikey...what a nightmare....yes I’ve got the GiffGaff 80GB UK, capped at 20GB roaming but I want it the other way around. Can’t be faffed with all the cash back stuff...I’d just forget...or worse still be thinking about it all month ☹️. The only one I can find that doesn’t seem to cap the roaming is the Voxi 60GB phone sim but I suspect they do but just bury it in their T&C...or stop you using it in a MiFi...can’t remember if it’s monthly...if it is I will go for it and cancel if they cap the roaming.

I think they do the cashback as some people will fail to get around to it. When we signed up for our broadband from the post office I rang the post office to find out the details then said that I needed to buy through a third party to get the cashback they offered me the same deal with a credit equal to the cashback on the account a lot better.

Oh....just looked and it caps at 25GB roaming....I don’t think there is a 50GB plus roaming one out there ☹️

Does any one know what happens with the Vodafone 100GB deal at the end of contract? Does it revert back to £40 a month? and if you're already a Vodafone customer will you still get the cashback deal, I'm thinking two of the 60GB deals and swap sims when i get up to 60GB on the first sim.

Reckon I should report them to OffComm or something...against the trade descriptions act...says Endless Roaming then when yo go into the small print you find it’s not endless at all but capped at 25GB

Not sure about that but they are capped at 20GB for roaming

Actually I just checked that, it's only the unlimited plans that are capped at 25GB roaming so the 60GB plans will allow to use all of it whilst roaming in the roam free destinations.

Unlimited
Roaming data on all unlimited data plans: capped at 25GB per month in inclusive roaming & £6/day roaming destinations. See terms.

60GB
Hitting the road? Good news – you won't be charged to use your UK allowance in our 48 Roam-free destinations [PDF: 668KB].

Travelling outside of Europe? It's just £6 a day to use your UK allowance in our Roam-further destinations [PDF: 810KB] – and you'll only be charged on the days you use your phone. Check our standard roaming rates for more information.

Ah yes that’s a good point, I remember looking at that as well. SO the 60GB one is the one to go with EXCEPT it’s a phone sim and not a data sim but there seems to be a consensus that theses can be used in MifI’s and Vodafone won’t throttle the speed even when roaming...but I’m not so sure about that. They don’t seem to do a 60GB data only sim for MiFi, only the unlimited which as you say is then capped at 25GB when roaming.

If the 60GB phone sim is on a monthly I would go with that and if they stop it being used in a MiFi then I’d cancel the contract.....trouble is I think it is a yearly contract so couldn’t cancel...do you know if it’s on a monthly contract ?

No they don’t, their largest sim on a monthly is 20GB which makes me very suspicious...

We have a 100Gb Vodafone contract, paying 20, discounted from 40, we did have some cashback initially via MSE. I though the discount stopped at 12 months, this month actually, so had been prepared to cancel but looking at the last bill it states the discounted rate continues till June 2021, downloaded and saved the PDF just in case a debate ensues.

Have used this extensively round europe, using the full 100Gb one month in Spain (eventually found HD streaming was turned on after an app update). So no cap, and we were out for about 11 weeks on the last trip.

This 60GB looks like a great deal, would go for it but happy with 100Gb no caps at the mo.

I can say that I've had no issues using my 100GB Vodafone phone sim in my mifi for the last year, I have unlimited calls and texts with it but have not used them obviously, if that's at all reassuring.

Many thanks Neilfg, I just went and had a look at my last bill and it says the same. :giggle:

My Voda 100g sim £20 contract was up, that was the rage a year ago, and they stuffed the price to £40, so I told them goodbye.

Much punting around and I was told that there is no roaming cap on O2 and it’s seem to be the case. It works ok in a mifi and costs £20 per month which buys 100G, unlimited minutes etc. but it’s an 18month contract.

Using this link, you will need to click on 18 month to see that price.

That’ll be one Guinea. :gum:

Have you read the fair usage policy? Their are a lot of exclusions.

This may get around the issue of those who want more data abroad than the capped amount as for the price of some single contracts you could have 2 contracts of 60gb each giving you double the capped amount.

5G only not much use unless you are in a 5G area, much of the UK isn't at the moment.

I think you'll find that a 5G sim will work ok in 4G areas, in fact I'm pretty sure a 5G sim will work ok in a 4G device but obviously you won't get 5G performance as the device needs to be able to work in the higher frequency range 30 - 300 GHz as apposed to 4G which works below 6 GHz.

Yes I realise it should work on all existing G's, but just going by the wording of the offer "5G only"

Ahh, it is 5G Sim only, it means you just get the sim card no phone or other device with it, so you use your existing device.

Thanks Minxy Girl. Great find.

Has the 50Gb pm data sim on a 30 day rolling contract been discontinued by Voda?

Used it in the past and was only told in one of their shops about 3 weeks ago that it was still available but cant see it on their website.

Re this post/offer, I cant see anywhere on the Fonehouse website where it suggests you cant use all of the 60Gb of data in Europe. Anyone found or been told any different?

Seems as though although a phone sim it should be OK in a MiFi, anyone know whether it will also work in an ipad?

Thanks
