Ok I’ve looked through threads and been on the gov website, the way it reads is 20% on all vehicles except the ones that fall into certain categories listed, So:

20%VAT on new and now used also, Yes or No?

When I bought my used van the dealer asked if I wanted to pay the vat, so I’m just wondering if this would still be the same and them selling without as long as you show that you have paid it in Britain ?

Maybe but the VAT will probably be only on the dealers profit so on a 50k van may be £950 (19% of say 5k) but UK VAT would be £9,810 (20% of £49,050).

Yes that's right, always been on new the change is you have to pay VAT on all used vehicles.
Well that’s just typical, my circumstances change to be able to afford a bit newer and it’s cancelled out by bleeding VAT, bugger!!🥲🥲

I’m sure some dealers on Mobile.de are showing with and without vat on current adverts.

Paid VAT on new German van to Germany. Now delivered and paid UK VAT to HM GOV. Germany refunded their VAT to me. All good.

Certainly are, but if you’re paying vat inclusive in Germany then paying again in England that’s a double whammy in my opinion
Talking used here sorry
