Hi everyone, just wondering do you keep a copy of your v5 in the van in the UK or just when you go abroad ??

A lot of countries require one to carry the original document, although from memory I think the French law specifies a document to prove ownership, which the V5 does not, and specifically states so on the front. A Bill of Sale would do that, but I think that most Flic would accept the V5, but maybe not a copy.

In UK I presume the law is still that one has to produce documents at a police station within 5 days, and the Police used to advise against leaving V5 in the vehicle because it contains Section 10 wherebye a thief could transfer the vehicle to his name.

We don't have it in the MH except when we go on holiday when the original is hidden away and we keep a copy handy, we also have it scanned onto a USB stick too along with all our other important info.
