I currently have 460amp lithium set up with 745w solar and a Victron inverter 3000w and have heard that when my battery’s are full I can send the the extra power to turn on my water heater, but not sure how with a truma wet heating

We have a similar set up but use the inverter to power the heater on 1 kw setting. As far as I am aware the heater only has 240 volt elements and gas. It would have to have fairly thick cable to produce any heat via 12 volt. 1 kw roughly 4 amps at 240 will take something like 26 amps @ 12 volt to produce 1 amp @ 240 so around 100 amps plus allowing for inverter inefficiencies and voltage drop.

Sorry just realised it’s a Alde heating and not a truma heater

Same principal applies, although more use is being made of 240 appliances in motorhomes it comes at a cost we have to be watchful as most of our long trips are outside the summer months. Although we have
2 x 100 amp Transporter Lithium, 700 watts of solar and a Victron 12/2000/80 inverter charger it will soon go down if parked up for a few days. Not a problem during the summer of if we are on the move, our alternator is heavy duty and is capable of 85 plus amps, so soon recovers. We do not have a B2B as our Installer stated they are not necessary as we do not have a smart alternator, the only caveat is do not run the engine to charge the batteries when stationary for more than fifteen mins. The system is warranted for 5 years the batteries for ten, it was fitted nearly four years and over 20,000 miles ago and been faultless.
