A question for the collective!

Can anyone tell me if you keep your C1 when swapping from UK to Portuguese driving licence?
Also when I turn 70 in Portugal do I have to re apply for C1?

Best to ask on a Portuguese forum, although there are a few Brit, Portuguese, residents on here.

The simple answer is……….no.
However, since Brexshit, there have been reports of folk disputing this and having their C1 reinstated, even though the rules state ‘only the categories for which you have passed a test’, so anything under grandfather rights is excluded.

However, on a normal Portuguese car licence, you can drive a ‘leisure vehicle’ ( ie. MH) up to 4250kg

Additionaly, they are VERY slow to process any change, I applied for my Pt exchange licence last January (2021)………still waiting!
( U.K. licence validity has been extended for another year anyway until the end of 2022, and the rumour mill is that they may keep extending it, or even just accept it for Pt residents, but don’t quote me on that!)
