UK border checks? Anyone?

I've seen lots of posts asking about checks on food when travelling across to Europe but surprisingly I have not seen one asking about customs checks on their return. I assume everyone is aware of the new limits on importing alcohol and tobacco and is abiding by the rules? Has anyone been stopped on the way back?

Came back Calais to Dover yesterday. Straight through.

Have been out and back four times this year and only checks have been gas off as normal and twice in Calais French border police not customs came onboard checking for stowaways.

Recent trip we had very obvious plants in the garage and zero interest.

We came through Plymouth on Friday we didn't get checked but i saw a couple of vans getting searched

The allowances are pretty generous, I would think anyone exceeding them is not doing it for their personal use.

Not sure everyone would agree that 18 litres (24 bottles) of wine is particularly generous.

We used to bring more than 200 Lts back all for our own use

Been through 3 times recently (train and ferry). No checks on anything, either way. Did see them look in a roof box once but that was it.
