Tyre DOT code for tyre age

I just bought a campervan and want to check the age of the tyres. The DOT code is DOT 6Y98HN9F. They are Continental tyres. How do I interpret this. I know normally there are 4 numbers that indicate month and year of manufacture, but these ytres all have this code instead.

That’s not the tyre age there should be a small circle with 4 digits inside it.
Such as 23 09 which would indicate the tyres were manufactured in the 23rd week of 2009.

The info you have there is not the date code. The date code will just be four numbers.

The four numbers should be in a losenge-shaped frame. First two = week, then year.

It is also normally on the inside of the tyre so you have to crawl under the van to see it.

Yup! Half my tyres are fitted that way. Why do they do that? Well, I can guess - but really, why?
