Evening everyone hope your all keeping safe and well, had a play out in the motorhome today and plug the TV in but struggled to get many channels we have a vision plus static aerial on the roof and a vision plus booster all fitted on a 2008 van but it doesn't seem great and might be because we are parked close ish to our house?? Were not interested in a satellite setup but was wondering what you folks think from experience, remember to stay safe.

An Omnidirectional aerial is next to useless for modern digital TV (DVB) no matter what the adverts say.
I have direct line of sight to the transmitter from my garden & the Omni Aerial on our Kon-tiki won't even find that, a distance of some 3 miles away.

I have a vision plus omni-directional aerial on My Ford Transit roof { 9FT tall van }.
Every time the cable is cut to make a connection you will lose signal strength { gain }.
If you have a 12V / aerial socket you will have a better signal if you dispense with the aerial socket and connect straight from the booster in to your TV { less connections greatly improves the signal }.
I've been watching Skynews TV most of the day with my Vision Plus TV aerial while I have been working on My van { AT HOME }.

Don't agree we only have a small whip aerial that does DTV, DAB & FM works a treat on all.

I have only ever used a Necvox Aerial - works great - check prices before buying (normally around £35)

I have modified mine by putting in a piece of flat co-ax cable so the lead can go through the door/window - it attaches by velcro, so the door can be opened & closed without disturbing it

The magnetic base has kept in place whilst driving, but I tend to remove the aerial when back from my trips (van is a daily drive - not at the moment, obviously!)

Before buying it, I considered various options including satellite dishes, vision plus, etc but I thought to myself, "keep it simple"

Thanks for that one question though do you or can you still put it through the vision plus booster?

I don't disagree there but I don't really watch TV in the moho, the aerials I'm speaking of are these flying saucer efforts, they never were very good.
I do have a small DAB aerial (indoor) which picks up TV signals in favourable conditions.

Yes you can use the Vision Plus aerial booster in the same way as any other booster, some twiddling might be required to get things fine tuned.

If you decide that you want a new aerial your looking for a directional aerial which can also be turned through horizontal or vertical, so Teleco, or if your really desperate a Status aerial, the Status used to be a great bit of kit but I've had quite a few faulty ones of the newer types & in our old van the Teleco would get signals when no-one else around could.

I have a flying saucer old style Omni direction aeriel and it improved a LOT when I switched out the booster for a newer one (possibly upgraded to assist digital?)

Probably going to replace with one of the black stubby ones above. However, streaming TV through firestiick is a lot more reliable.
