Both the Som port &Puerto de Portalet tunnels are closed ,by all accounts, due to snow & controlled explosions to clear snow are being carried out to get them open

Useful info thanks. We are driving down to Spain in a couple of weeks, I am assuming the roads along the north coast, Bayonne to Santander are not affected by snow yet?

Where is the Partalet tunnel, please? Google isn’t helping. Crossing from Spain to France next week.

This page lists all the roads affected by snow / ice and is regularly updated. The link on it entitled "Carreteras afectadas (toda la red)." downloads them as a pdf file and gives you the details.

According to that the aragouet-Bielsa tunnel on spanish side is chains only + winter tyres. . lorries ,buses prohibited.
Som Port is the same.chains & winter tyres only so must be passable at the moment although it does state difficult.

The Portalet is about 30 miles South or should I say East of the Somport. Just had a look less than 30 km.

Should remember as we did them both on a Triumph street triple a number of years ago, rode from Orthez through the Somport tunnel, had lunch in Jaca then rode down to Sabinanigo and back over the Portalet.

D936 France and A136 Spain finally found on Apple maps(y)
