Tui has now finnished her 6 months of chemo and had a scan, we're still waiting for the results of the biopsies but she still has the cancer. Tui has been in remission for so long we had hoped she was cancer free. We have had a brief discussion with the vet at the hospital and more chemo is available, but it will only prolong her life. A cure is not likely now. We will continue with the treatment for as long as Tui is a happy dog, at the moment apart from the visits to the hospital every 2 weeks she is as fit as ever. The insurance we have, which has been great, will run out soon, so far they have paid out about £9,000. I still have to total the bills to see how much we have left, luckily we are in a position to fund the treatment ourselves until November when the next £7,500 starts again. If I was taking out pet insurance now I would have picked a higher level of cover.

Aaaah thats sad. How old is Tui? And how long will your £7500 extend Tui life. Being a dog lover myself I know how hard it must be and I'd have tried to buy my dog a longer happier life, but its a lot of money to spend if theres no cure.

Tui will be 9 in June. The insurance cover is £7,500 per year. It rolls over in November. We had the diagnosis and first few treatments before the roll over. But now we are getting near to the next £7,500 limit. We will then have to fund the treatment until next November when another £7,500 will be available. We have lifetime cover. At the moment Tui is not showing any sign of being unwell so we will keep going until she becomes sick. That will be a very hard decision, which we hope is a long way off.

She's a brave girl then and lucky to have so devoted parents. Post a pic up and let us all see your sweetheart.

@The gasman sending all my love and kisses for Tui.

she is such a happy dog, just wants to play all day. Our other dog, Dolly, who is 3 years younger just wants to sleep and eat.

Big hugs for TUI, she looks adorable and I love her markings. How did Tui get her name, anything to do with Thomson's by any chance?

We called her Tui because she is a ratting dog (Ratter-Tui. like ratatouille) although she has never attacked anything bigger than a sock
