chausson welcome
My Trumatic 3002s heater...augh! So...I took it all apart and bench tested it. The thermocouple worked ok, the pilot was good, when I let the rod go it fired up fine...so why the cold feet you may well ask?!? So I rebuilt the heater and re-installed it and the damn thing wouldn't lite........
So I repeated all with the same result so I'm searching for some insight. Checked the flue, it's ok.
I light the pilot with the pitzo button...it lights...hold down the gas for between 20-90 seconds...let go and it may pop a little.or it may light for a few seconds...then, cold feet! Any ideas you may have I would appreciate. I live in France so to find an english-speaking 'gas expert' is difficult. cheers

Could it be a poor gas supply? Is the regulator blocked up - enough to be okay for the pilot light but no more?. Also could you have a propane butane mix in the bottle and all the propane has vapourised but the butane won't as it's too cold?

If you tested it useing a different regulator i would look first at the one on your motorhome as they can oil up over time from residue from the gas.

Wow?I'm really grateful for all your responses. Paddymcc...I use the cooker and truma boiler without problems. This morning my gas ran out, changed the bottle, still the same. One observation I learnt yesterday after trying to start ten times...the pilot lights first time always, when I let the knob go it flutters and faffs for a second trying to light and then it goes out but yesterday I could HEAR the main gas jet working for about fifteen seconds and then there is a 'click' which is the gas cut-off shutting the gas off. The temp. yesterday was nearly twenty degrees so not too cold for my propane. GeoffNDee, Ive cleaned and blown both jets...merci...peterCarol, I haven't tested the regulator because the heater works perfectly on the bench. Gus, it's an early model without electricity, just manual piezo start. ....please keep trying and thanks to you all.
Could the pilot or main burner jet be part blocked?

Were you using the van's gas bottle and regulator when you were "bench runnin" the heater ?
It does sound like a regulator problem to me.
