Pretty much got the hang of it now!
Dear Wise Sages
Can anyone explain why replacement 450w elements for the Ultrastore heaters cost £150 plus??? Kettle elements and emersion heater elements for domestic systems are of a much higher wattage and cost 10s of pounds! The obvious is profiteering as I can see no manufacturing reason; (after examining the faulty one) for the extortionate cost; unless a metre of grey cable is the culprit??? Does anyone know of a company that manufactures a cheaper and effective alternative like there is for the flush pump on Thetford toilets?
If not, are there any entrapenuers out there with the skill and money to start making them?
Paul

Shop round a little but, they are expensive, problem is, I don’t think there is a generic replacement.

Yes thanks for that. It's what I have been doing but just thought I would tap collective wisdom too:giggle::giggle:

I am certain that somewhere, you could locate a simple 450w heating element that could be adapted to fit. The part is unlikely to be made solely for truma. But if they are it would explain the cost as they are cheaper to manufacture in bulk than just a few thousand a year

Good advice thank you(y)(y)

There are a few companies around that will custom make whatever you want. Not sure of prices, but these lot might be worth enquiring with ?

The Truma Combi elements are only sold in pairs (what's that all about?) and last time I looked they were £300 plus.
It is a total ripoff.
Leisure industry = charge what you like.

If you work it out, it may not be worth using the electric. Your boiler will work better on gas, anyway, and £150 buys a lot of gas.
450W provides a very modest amount of heat so is not going to do much for you on its own, unless you're very patient.
