I have this switch on a Carthage Motorhome and am not sure to put it on or leave off can someone tell me how it actually works thanks

Green led on primary gas bottle in use, red led reserve gas bottle in use.

On is down it won't work if it's off, the up position is on with the regulator heater on only need that in sub zero temperatures to stop the regulator icing up.

No, it indicates when the gas bottle change over and turns on the regulator heater.
Nothing to do with the gas heating.
