Hi Everyone, we will soon be selling our twin tag Kontiki and will be taking delivery of a new PVC, an Adria Twin Supreme SLB which is fitted with Truma Combi 4. We realise that many Funsters on here will have had first hand experience of this heating system so it would be much appreciated if anyone could give us feedback on what they think of it?

We've got a 6.4 metre Rapido pvc fitted with a Truma combi 6, which I assume is similar.

It seems very effective and warms the van up quickly. Fan is clearly audible, though not especially noisy, when getting up to temperature.

If the weather outside is particularly cold we set the thermostat down to 18 degrees and leave it ticking over all night. Very quiet then and doesn't disturb us.

The controls seem good, though don't claim to understand every single detail, such as setting up detailed time schedules. But it works well for us, and the basic controls are straightforward.

We have the Truma combi 6 in our van, 7.4 metres with rear lounge, it heats up quicker on dual fuel setting then we turn to elec only. We leave the hot water on eco all day and find this works for us.

Interestingly, we usually choose not to use the electric elements, even though we are mostly on a hook-up.

Reason being, I've read quite a few reports of failing elements, which are then complicated and expensive to replace.

So whilst in the short term the electric is included with the hook-up (unless metered), medium to longer term, risk of significant replacement cost.

We have a refillable gas system, so gas is relatively cheap, especially on the continent.

I think it's probably just one of my strange behaviours, not to rely on the in-built electric elements.

As an aside, we do have a small cheap (£10) 1/2 killowat fan heater on board, if we really want to use electric, but never leave it on overnight. We hardly use it though.

Have a C6 gas only in a 7.5m van, it's very good, to get the best out of them you need the CP-Plus controller, controls the temperature and fan much better than the classic controller. Once the van is up to temp you wouldn't even know it was running.

Ours is fitted with an earlier model Truma Combi. Gas only. It's pretty good and has always been reliable. Heats up the inside nice and toastie and we have plenty of hot water once it reaches temperature (usually about 20 minutes).
I have one niggle, which is there is no way of stopping it sucking the fresh water if the pump is switched on, which means we can't stop it dumping all our water when the frost valve is triggered.
I also wish I had bought a digital control when they were available, it can be pretty chilly first thing off-season and the manual control has to be operated by hand. The digi controls for our model are no longer available unfortunately.

We have truma 4e. Works very well. Once up to temp runs almost silent. On lowest setting there isn’t a great deal of hot water but on high plenty and hot. over all very pleased with it

If you want to run the heater without using the hot water side to avoid the frost valve dumping, just put an inline valve in the cold water supply to the boiler. We have a similar problem in our Burstner, the dump valve is in the locker where the fresh water tank is. This is on the opposite side of the van to the heater, when travelling with the cab heater on in really cold weather as the van warms up the Truma shuts down and where the valve is will get really cold and dump as when the Truma is on there is a warm air outlet to stop this happening. Great bit of design!!
