Water heater
When put on 40 degrees it’s 60
when put on 60 it’s 70
if left on it starts smelling hot and central heating comes on.
any ideas folks

Cant help with the 40-60 thing except to say possible thermostat issue.
The heating may come on to relieve some of the heat / pressure to cool it down like expansion.

Maybe it's furred up inside. It's a big old kettle. Probably needs a descale/ flush out.

It’s full of water mate been trying it again today.
any idea is a good idea.
