we're thinking of going to Ypres to see the war memorial
travelling from UK on euro tunnel can anyone recommend campsite on route to Ypres

We usually stay on the Aire at Bergues near Dunkirk after the ferry crossing. The is a Lidl on the road in to do a top up shop.
We have a favourite cafe on the corner of the main square and it’s not too far to drive to Ypres.
Unless you have other places in mind we have stayed at the Yeungstation Camp site just outside the walls at Ypres. If you have time the Cloth Hall is worth a visit.

8 o'clock each night they play the last post at the Menim gate ,its worth seeing its very emotional.
They remember our dead and missing every day, a very moving ceremony at a very sad memorial.

I have been to Ypres several times but last time it was just me and our son. He has known about my Great Uncle being lost on the Somme in 1916 with no known grave for a long time including seeing his name on the memorial at Thepeval when he was in his early teens. Being older now visiting Ypres and attending the service really got to him.
We had time to walk along the walls and take in the history of Ypres. It is an interesting town.

Aire at Brugge
Site near Menin Gate - recommend that you book - Aire outside site and again, I’d pre book it
If you don’t and it’s full, there’s another aire on outskirts of town and walkable taking around 20mins stroll.
Aire at Gravelines outside Dunkirk
There are a few sites on Belgian coast but I’ve not stayed at any of them.
I loved visiting Ypres and surrounding areas related to WW1. So much to see.

We took our bikes and cycled miles out and around the surrounding countryside seeing several immaculately groomed cemetries.

Have a trip to Popperinge too, not far away to see the shooting post and Talbot House/museum.. Whilst in Ypres look at the properties in the square and take note of the dates on the buildings.
Remember ANY building you see on the Somme is no older than 1918.

To answer your question I can fully recommend Camping Kompass at Nieuwpoort and I always use the MH pitches on tarmac on the edge of the campsite directly overlooking the waterway and footpath into town. The site facilities are second to none, beautiful and warm in the colder months whilst always being spotlessly clean
