We're planning a trip to the EU. Will I need a hookup adapter?

Can anyone suggest anything they wish they would have brought with them the first time they went!

Oh yes! How does it work there we're planning on going three months at a time because we can work when we are away.

Would you be able to just get one out there and then refill that one
We have just come back after a 3 month trip, we had two 6kg calor and still had gas left. We did have EHU , I also bought a Spanish gas bottle from Facebay, but didn't need it.

Carried one around for 11 years and got to use it in Denmark a couple of weeks ago, shocked (no pun), to find it was still in the van
Last December / January travelling to Spain through France and back I needed it on 3 sites.

Don’t think I’ve had to use it in Belgian, Netherlands or Germany as yet but fairly often in France and Spain so far.

Blimey, how unlucky.

Please tell what sites ?
See post #32 for general info.

Our last site in this trip was at a chateau. Pretty quiet. The electric box for our pitch had both connections. The blue round sockets had no power but the two pin socket did. So plugged into that.

As my original post on here, and with others, it’s a suggestion of what is needed based on our experience.

The advice is there to take or leave.

Bit like I have gaslow bottles. But have never needed to refill them when on the continent. In fact they have always been filled at the Morrisons at Killingworth. But I still have the filling adapters to cover mainland Europe.

Theres one YouTube channel that I'm not going to name, but always amused that they plug the van in first, and then check for reverse polarity! Bit late!

It is a German van though.
They are very entertaining

Yes. Ive used the two pin adapter on 60% of Spanish/French sites.

Is that actually needed? Lots of comments elsewhere here that modern vans are protected
I’ve had mine for years. It’s always give peace of mind. At least I’m treating the systems in my Motorhome with all the respect I can. That means adding electricity with the right polarity

Well Lucky you.

I’ve needed to use one many times.

In fact, twice on this holiday alone.
The vast majority of sites now have the blue plug, same as the UK.

Reverse polarity can be an issue, I "always" check "before" connecting to the van, and I have a homemade "adapter" that will un-reverse the polarity.
